Since 2016, SAFEST has advocated for halal lunch at NYC public schools.  After many rallies and meetings with City Council members, our hard work came to fruition.   DOE launched a “pilot” program offering halal lunch for schools (that applied to be a part of the program).    SAFEST was strongly encouraging community members to ask principals to be part of this “pilot” program.
